Good genetics are the basis for a good harvest.Almost every grower would agree with this statement, from beginners to experts. Therefore, the genetics should ideally come from experts who have been on the market for more than five years at best. When most people think of shopping for cannabis seeds, the first thing that comes to mind is Holland, more specifically the Netherlands. And indeed: since the EU laws are interpreted in a slightly different way there, the sale of seeds is allowed here. But the sale of seeds is also permitted or at least tolerated in Austria, Switzerland or Spain. And now we want to take a look at Spain in particular. The Spanish cannabis seed bank "Herbies" has been selling seeds for over 20 years and is therefore one of the old hands in the business, even if they are not that well known here in Central Europe. In addition to almost all common manufacturers, including Royal Queen Seeds, Dinafem or Serious Seeds, Herbies has also been offering its own seed collection for some time, which was created in cooperation with Spanish breeders: "Herbies Seeds"!Here the best and most popular genetics were taken. And crossed with each other until everyone was really satisfied! The most potent of these strains are represented in the Herbies Heavy Kickers mix pack, which I was lucky enough to test for you: Grandmommy Purple, Mimosa Shot, and Godzilla Glue #4.A little hint to get you started: All of these strains have a THC value of 29 to 30%.Of course, it must be said here that these values are the absolute top values and not the average.Still, with such specs, even under non-lab conditions, one can expect an above-average potent harvest!Godzilla Glue #4: This strain is a cross between Chem Sis, Sour Diesel, and Chocolate Thai, all parents who are minor celebrities in their own right. The indica-sativa percentage is around 50-50.Flowering times are reported to average 55–60 days, maximum yields are said to be a whopping 800g/m², THC levels are the lowest in this mix at 29%.Mimosa Shot: This is where Mimosa and Fruit Punch shake hands.I'm looking forward to a fruity smoke! Here, too, the yield is said to be up to 800g/m².And that in just 65 days of flowering! With a 65% indica percentage, she can be described as “indica dominant”.The THC content is given as up to 30%.Grandmommy Purple: This cross between the famous Big Bud and Purple Urkle isn't supposed to grow that tall at a maximum of 140cm, but with an indica percentage of 80% that's not surprising! The yield is the lowest at "only" 500g/m².But the THC content of up to 30% is definitely decent! The breeding of the females takes place under a 140W flatboard from Bloomstar in 6500K.Due to the high proportion of blue, the females remain bushy, especially at the beginning, and form very short internodes. In layman's terms: the distances between the shoots (nodes) are called "internodes".The smaller the internodes, the better off the plant is.Long internodes, on the other hand, are often a sign of a lack of light. In technical jargon, this would then be called "hot growth", we growers simply say "the lady is asparagus!".As a substrate I use the Special Mix Light from Goldlabel, a peat-based soil that is only lightly fertilized but of high quality. The plants were germinated in normal soil-based propagation blocks. As soon as the second pair of leaves appears, the plants are repotted in commercially available pre-cultivation pots.Unfortunately, a seed coat got caught on a leaf of a Godzilla Glue #4, which prevented the leaf from developing properly and the plant was lagging behind after just a few days. She was then redeemed. So the grow starts with 14 women. The plants are fertilized with Crazy Hills, a bio-mineral fertilizer from Austria. The CANNA series is also used in addition to this: The mistakes that people like to make with organic fertilizers can be easily ironed out with mineral fertilizers.Already in the growth phase, the plants were repotted into their 11l final pots a few weeks after germination so that the largest possible root ball could form.A Maxibright Daylight 660W Pro, dimmed to 50%, was initially used as the lamp. The box is a 150×150 cm Probox from Garden Highpro. The plants all grow pretty much as I would have expected from the genetics: the Grandmommy Purple remained the smallest but stockiest specimens from the start.Gozilla Glue #4 and Mimosa Shot both had relatively similar narrow, sativa-leaning leaves, while Mimosa Shot was slightly smaller overall of the two. What I noticed very positively at this point: the uniformity within the varieties.Sure, in the whole tent: absolute chaos, the indica-heavy ones were almost pushed aside, the sativas quickly overran too much of the box.But within the varieties everything was pretty uniform, with a bit of experience you could easily recognize the varieties by their growth and you no longer had to pay attention to the labeling. And in the flowering phase, this trend became even more apparent.Incidentally, all plants were topped and the large, older sun leaves were regularly removed. This resulted in beautiful bushy plants. After about 8-9, all the plants were ready for flowering, the box bursting with boxes. At the beginning of the flowering phase, however, all plants were taken out of the box again, individually pruned, gelollipopped and examined again. Then everyone came back into the tent and a net was spread out so that the flowers would have a better hold later. At the beginning of the flowering phase, the net was still a good distance above the shoot tips, but after a week most of the plants had already grown through. The Godzilla Glue in particular showed an extraordinary amount of stretch: I had to use weights to push the huge buds aside a little, otherwise I would have had to hang the lamp way too high.Since some plants showed a slight nitrogen deficiency in the lower area, I increased the fertilizer dose a little. But here I did the calculation without the Grandmommy Purple: Due to their small shape, the ladies unfortunately did not tolerate the additional fertilizer so well and quickly showed signs of overfertilization in the form of eagle claws and were therefore only watered with water at first. All in all everything grew splendidly!Only the temperature bothered the women: the thermometer in the box sometimes rose to over 30 °C (no wonder with almost 29 °C outside), the water requirement of the women increased rapidly, the box sometimes used 25 l of nutrient solution every day, what was of course also due to the low humidity and not only due to the care of the plants. The plants are developing splendidly!Especially in the group photos you can see the sativa part mixed: the Godzilla Glue, which are all in the middle, produced beautiful, elongated buds that are just bursting with resin! However, I suppose I could have chosen the pot size a little more generously: the plants need water almost every day.If you have to take care of the ladies alone, it can actually be quite exhausting in the long run.But what don't you do?Also, every few days I remove any leaves that are casting a shadow on buds in a mold. The previously attached net is super helpful when it comes to keeping the plants in good shape. But the sheer horror when you want to get to the rear copies, for example. However, it should be said here: Due to the design of my room, I cannot open the tent from the side, which would of course be an enormous advantage and is also easily possible given the design of the tent.In my case, however, it unfortunately means: Crawling through the box on all fours and working facing the light: A sweaty job that you should NEVER do without sunglasses.Unfortunately, one Grandmommy Purple specimen in particular did not recover from the excess nitrogen and looked increasingly unhealthy. Here it was quickly clear: This lady will not reach her full potential. It's a shame, but you always learn from mistakes! We state: If you have sativa- and indica-heavy genetics in one box, you should mix two different nutrient solutions, at the latest in the flowering phase, in order to optimally meet the nutrient requirements of both genetics.Sativas often consume more nutrients than indicas due to their large, spreading growth and the overall longer flowering phase.Towards the end, of course, the amount of fertilizer is measured lower, the last 14 days the women hardly get any NPK fertilizer, but a lot of boosters and enzymes.CannaZym, for example, contains only phosphorus and potassium, making it ideal for the last phase when the buds only mature and do not use any more nitrogen. Now, at the latest, it becomes clear how neat the breeders of Herbies Seeds were when selecting the genetics: ALL the ladies look wonderful, all three varieties can be visually assigned super easily, there is only one phenotype within the varieties (which of course with 4– 5 seeds can also be coincidence) and they all have a scent that almost knocks you off your feet! The Godzilla Glue in particular has an aroma that surprised me at first: The scent reminds me of one of my absolute favorite varieties "Blue Cheese": An almost diesel-like smell, mixed with sour notes, light Haze scent. In short: a dream! The plants themselves grew very sprawling, have slightly longer internodes than the other two varieties and grew a little more "wobbly" overall.Again, there is a downside to growing multiple strains in the same tent: the Godzillas would certainly have needed a few more days to reach their full potential. However, since the next round is already pending and all other varieties had matured properly, all plants had to be harvested at the same time. The Mimosa Shot smells extremely delicious and of all the varieties they delivered the best, both in terms of yield, flowering time and "simplicity": There were no problems here, everything went perfectly and most of the plants were still ready to be harvested full of juice. The aroma is actually nothing "special" in this sense: Sweet, fruity, juicy and somehow slightly hashish. The flowers themselves are rock hard, even if this doesn't come across so nicely in the photos. In a way, they feel almost so firmly on the plant as if they were fully cured and ready to be tasted!Grandmommy Purple, I'm sorry... The excess nitrogen unfortunately carried through to the end and definitely limited her yield! The buds look beautiful once the leaves are removed, but overall are a little fluffier than the rest. Proof again that sometimes "less fertiliser" can mean "more yield"!The aroma, on the other hand, leaves nothing to be desired: A wonderfully "weedy" aroma, super fruity and something in the direction of Skittlez. My clear conclusion: I would grow all three varieties again, but this time in three separate tents! What makes me particularly happy as a home grower: So far I haven't found a single seed in the harvest! And that's almost an exception, at least since the Cali variety hype.So from me personally: Congratulations to the Herbies Seeds team. All three varieties are very fine, you can see clear differences, there are few phenotypes and no mutations.Thank you for letting me test these strains for you.Hemp is our passion.Yours too? Then you've come to the right place at Hanf Magazin! For as long as we can remember, hemp, especially cannabis and grow, has been a taboo subject. We are of the opinion that hemp does not deserve this image of the illegal drug plant and we bring the topic to a new, serious level with the Hanf Magazin. We hope you find exactly what you're looking for!#hempmagazineAt the beginning of 2021, the news made the rounds that in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, some efforts were being made by Mayor Femke...We use cookies on hanf-magazin.com.Some of them are essential, others help improve our website and your user experience. If you are under the age of 16 and wish to give your consent to volunteer services, you must ask your legal guardian for permission. We use cookies and other technologies on our website. Some of them are essential, while others help us to improve this website and your experience.Personal data can be processed (e.g. IP addresses), e.g.B. for personalized ads and content or ad and content measurement. You can find more information about the use of your data in our data protection declaration. You can revoke or adjust your selection at any time under Settings. Here you will find an overview of all cookies used. You can give your consent to entire categories or have further information displayed and thus only select certain cookies.Accept all Save Accept only essential cookiesEssential cookies enable basic functions and are required for the website to function properly.Marketing cookies are used by third parties or publishers to display personalized advertisements. They do this by tracking visitors across websites.Content from video platforms and social media platforms is blocked by default. If cookies from external media are accepted, access to this content no longer requires manual consent.
