GALION—For the first time in more than 20 years, the Galion Oktoberfest includes a Queen and Court.

The entire Galion community supported this event, with more than 20 girls vying in the Junior categories.

Contestants competed for a Junior Princess title as well as Junior Miss Oktoberfest and Miss Oktoberfest titles.

The Junior and Princess candidates were interviewed at the Galion Chamber of Commerce, resulting in Adylina Troiano as Princess, First Attendant Emery Vanderkooi, and Second Attendant Madison Adams. The Queen contestants were judged on appearance, answers to a prepared question, and a fish bowl question. Queen Ruth (right) wiping her sister LJ’s “happy tears

Pageant official Krista Snider (Miss Voluptuous Buckeye State) noted that the girls competing for the title of Queen were very supportive of one another:

“These girls, all seven of them, became quite close in the two days that we were together. It was truly like watching a sisterhood blossom.” Snider said.

The most emotional experience of the evening came when two sisters ended up sharing the royalty crowns.

Miss Oktoberfest 2022 is Ruth Ebner, First Attendant is her sister LJ Ebner and Second Attendant is Lilly Johnson.

The Festival is still seeking travel sponsors to help offset expenses for the Queen’s Luncheon, as well as sponsors to donate car magnets needed to introduce traveling royalty as they visit other festivals.

The Pageant Scholarship sponsors were Covert Manufacturing and the VFW in Galion.

The Galion Chamber of Commerce hosted contestants during interviews and helped with last-minute details. The Galion

Community Theater provided last-minute accommodations for the pageant.

Judges for the pageant were Melissa Ferarccio, Sarah Adolphus, Linda Campbell, Lillian Hall, and Jackie French.
