FLORENCE, Wis. — Crafters on Central is a new studio in Florence that encourages all ages to get involved in art.

They opened their doors March 1 at 733 Central Ave. in Florence. The Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce later celebrated their membership with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Crafters on Central’s mission is to provide “Art for All Ages” to the local area through classes and other offerings. Owner Stacey Lantagne hopes to encourage everyone to explore new crafts and to improve or grow their skills in hobby areas.

A wide variety of craft and art classes are offered in the studio and are being taught by many different amazing local artists. Just a few of these classes include card making, cupcake decorating, photography, painting and also stained glass. They also offer paint-your-own pottery sessions with a large selection of ceramic bisque pieces.

The studio includes a retail space with locally made arts and crafts of all shapes, sizes and kinds. Another unique feature is their splatter space, which allows for a messy painting experience complete with music, black lights and neon paint. This paint is splattered all over the room, the canvas and any friends joining the fun. Within the space is a spinning machine for artists to also enjoy creating unique images by dropping paint onto a moving canvas.

Fresh snack items and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages can be purchased on site. Crafters on Central has the capacity to host private parties, birthdays or corporate events, with catering options available.

Retail items as well as class registrations can be bought online at craftersoncentral.com. Crafters on Central is owned and operated by Stacey and Doug Lantagne of Florence.

“Doug and I feel passionate about the need for an expanded art community in the area and we look forward to forming further opportunities for artists to teach here and to collaborate,” Stacey Lantagne said.

Crafters on Central also plans to host special events each year to help give back. In April they had a special class themed for autism awareness and donated $200 to Moving Mountains.
